More heart health risks to consider when considering insurance

On Behalf of | Feb 17, 2017 | Denied Insurance Claims

This week marked a day of the heart from more of a figurative perspective. Valentine’s Day has come and gone. Hopefully, it was a day of joy for you and your loved ones.

While the holiday comes only once a year, every day should be a day of the heart. By that, we mean you should consider your heart health on a regular basis. A past post began a list of health factors that can increase the risk of heart disease. The following are more health risks that may lead to heart complications:

Diabetes: The risk of suffering from heart disease can be as much as four times higher for people with diabetes. That is a significant health threat. This is true for both types of diabetics, types 1 and 2. Controlling one’s diabetes, therefore, is crucial in order to try to best avoid heart attack and/or stroke.

Weight: Being overweight and at an unhealthy BMI puts one at risk for heart disease. Maintaining an active lifestyle and minding one’s diet are the basic ways to try to maintain or get to a healthy weight.

These posts providing a list of heart disease risks are more than health education. We are, in fact, insurance lawyers whose focus is on helping people receive the insurance coverage that they deserve.

From a perspective of insurance, understanding your heart disease risk factors can help you determine what kind of insurance coverage you need. If you or a loved one has a certain health background, perhaps life insurance is a top priority, for example.

Health specifics can be what support necessary medical treatments and procedures, too. Sometimes insurance providers will deny coverage due to an argument that something wasn’t a necessary test or treatment. If you dispute that claim, work with an insurance lawyer who has the experience to do so aggressively.
